Having a Clear Purpose for Success
Success within any salon or spa resides on the expectations or goals that are set by the managing parties and making sure everybody is focused on the same purpose. These goals or expectations should be clearly understood and the focus of the staff to accomplish. If your staff is not clearly contributing toward this aim it's more then likely they do not know your organizational purpose and goals. Below are 5 steps for you to ponder and work on: Step 1. What do I want to accomplish with my salon/spa? What is most important to me? Step 2. What is your salon's Purpose? Why does your organization exist? Knowing why your salon or spa exists helps keep your business focused on what is (and what is not)its work. Step 3. Where do you see your company going? (Vision) Have a clear and well communicated vision so your people know where you want to go. When you begin the process of strategic planning, visioning comes first. When visioning the change, ask yourself, "What is our preferred future?” Step 4. What strategies need to be in place to accomplish our vision?(missions) Measures and targets must be established for key areas of the business (new clients per month, retention, productivity, retail sales, average ticket, etc) Creating and measuring goals are essential so that when they are not being met, analysis and strategy can be changed mid-stream to ensure success. Step 5. What are our core values? Values are standards for conduct common across your organization. Values will anchor your organization's overall behavior. Examples of values are: *We value people *We are customer focused *We act with honesty and integrity *We trust and respect each other Each of these items are slightly different by way of meaning and emphasis. Defining what these mean to you and your employees will help everyone better understand what the focus of your salon or spa should be. If your organization has no stated purpose, vision or missions you will have nothing to aspire to or hold your employees accountable to. This process may seem vague and superfluous. The long-term benefits are substantial. Try it out and see!!! NOT CLEAR ON YOUR SALON'S PURPOSE? NEED SOME DIRECTION? the SECRET Salon & Spa by Design can help!!
