There are multiple marketing ideas that can be implemented 
to increase the traffic of your salon or spa. These ideas 
can be as simple as mentioning your business whenever you 
meet someone new or as aggressive as building your own

today’s technologically advanced society. Many salons are 
using the internet to market their business to consumers 
inside and outside of the community. If you do not have a 
website for your salon, you are already lacking in your 
marketing. The use of a website as a marketing tool has 
become a staple in today’s successful businesses.

With the use of a website come other ideas such as offering 
your clients instant online gift certificates. Though your 
company may already offer some form of a gift certificate; 
instant online gift certificates have been shown to 
increase business as much as 30 percent. It creates a fast 
and easy way for customers to choose a gift certificate and 
also increases your out-of-town and last minute sales.

How about using a text messaging service to increase 
business? Many successful salon and spa owners are turning 
to today’s mobile to mobile text messaging technology to 
alert customers of specials and open appointment times.  
Picture you have a client cancel an appointment on you-  
this creates a void in your schedule, and most of all you 
are not getting paid if you don’t fill that void. You 
would obviously love to fill that opening, and you can by 
alerting your clients of this available time. It is a very 
easy task to do. Just pick up a phone, leave a voice 
message and your message gets converted to whatever medium 
your clients specify. This can be text, pager, email, and 
PDA on any service, anywhere, and anytime.

Also once you have your website you need to market the 
website itself. How else will people know that you have 
one? An easy way to do this is to put your address on 
everything you can think possible. Does your company have 
shopping bags that you give out to your customers? How 
about business cards, brochures, or receipts? These are 
all things that you should print your website address on.  
As humans we learn best through repetition. So the more we 
repeat the address on all of our products the more likely 
someone will visit the website. One idea that I have found 
works the best is to give out bookmarks with the salon or 
spa’s name, logo, and web address on them. 
 
There are many ways that you can use today’s technology to 
increase business. It’s all about becoming creative and 
taking advantage of the services that others have created 
for us.
